Service Project
Dear Colleagues,
The community service project for this year’s MCPA October conference is a donation drive for the Michigan State University’s Safe Place. There will be a box next to the conference registration desk for your donations. All donations are tax deductible. If you would like an official letter acknowledging your donation, for tax purposes, there will be a form at the registration desk. The MSU Safe Place Needs List is below. Thank you!

MSU Safe Place Needs List
MSU Safe Place is a relationship violence and stalking program that offers the following services: advocacy, educational programs, counseling, support group, agency or university referred assessments, and emergency shelter for MSU students, staff, faculty, retirees, alumni and their partners. We also provide services for those not affiliated with MSU when the Lansing area program (End Violent Encounters) is full or unable to assist. MSU Safe Place has been offering services to the campus and greater Lansing community since 1994. All services offered on campus are free and confidential. We rely on the community to support us in our efforts to provide services to those who have experienced relationship violence and stalking.You can help by donating any of the items listed below.
Most needed items:
- Laundry soap and dish soap
- Feminine hygiene products (pads)
- Paper towel, Kleenex and toilet paper
- Diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6), pull-ups & wipes
- Cleaners, such as bleach, Lysol cleaner and spray, toilet cleaner, Windex
- Cleaning supplies, such as mops, brooms, sponges, handy wipes, SOS pads, gloves
- Gas or gift cards from Meijer
- Non-perishable food items
- Cold, allergy and pain medicine for adults, children and babies
- Large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion
- Other personal needs items, including, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, hand soap, body wash and razors
- Financial donations, make checks out to Michigan State University-Safe Place
Less Urgent but often needed items:
- Office supplies: post it notes, pens, notebooks, white-out pens and liquid, clear scotch tape, jump drives
- Socks and underwear (new) for women & children
- Crafts and school supplies (new or gently used)
- CATA bus tokens or passes
- Toys (new and gently used)
- Winter hats, mittens, gloves and coats (seasonal)
- Gently used sheets, blankets, towels and wash cloths
- Used TV’s, VCR’s, DVD’s, microwaves, answering machines, pots and pans, kitchen utensils
- Drinks and snacks for child care
