Directory: MCPA publishes a state-wide membership directory to facilitate communication among student personnel professionals in Michigan.
Journal: The journal theme is generally open, and papers dealing with a broad array of issues for student affairs leaders will be featured. Manuscripts for publication are now being accepted and submitted for review.
Leadership Opportunities: There are many ways to develop your leadership skills through MCPA. Any member can run for an elected office or serve on the Leadership Team’s Advisory Council. Also, committee members and volunteers are always needed to help with the annual conference and other professional development programs offerings throughout the year.
Newsletter: Published in the fall, spring, and summer, the newsletter contains feature articles, MCPA news, and a wide variety of information on programs and resources available to members. Members are encouraged to submit articles.
Professional Development: Several professional development opportunities are offered to members each year in addition to the annual conference. These include one-day drive-in workshops and conferences, training sessions, and the New Professionals Institute.
Representation: The President and the President-Elect of the MCPA serve as the liaisons between the state organization and the national organization, the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). These officers maintain regular communication with the national headquarters, attend the annual summer leadership meetings, and represent MCPA in all state division meetings at the ACPA annual convention. Though this alliance, the MCPA is able to offer its members extended funding and networking opportunities, as well as professional development through the extensive research and publications base of the national organization. The ACPA also provides, though its legislative committees, an opportunity for student affairs professionals to have a voice in the national debates on higher education.
