GRADUATE CASE STUDY COMPETITION
Sunday - October 21, 2007
12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Case Study Competition is an opportunity for graduate students in the field of student affairs, higher education or counseling to present their work to a panel of judges. Each case study team will be comprised of two graduate student members of MCPA. Prior to the Annual Conference all competing teams will be given the same case study to present to the judges on the day of the competition. The Case Study Competition will be held on Sunday prior to the start of the Annual Conference. Please indicate your interest in participating in the Case Study Competition on your registration form. There is no additional fee to enter the competition; however, space is limited. Registration for the case study completion must be post mark by October 1, 2007.

Teams will receive the case study by email two weeks prior to the competition. The competition schedule and the order of presentation times will be included as well. Teams should use relevant student affairs literature for their presentations. The use of outside sources such as URL’s, articles, graphics, etc. is encouraged. Each presentation should be 15 – 20 minutes in length, however there is no standard presentation format. Participants can us MS PowerPoint slides, text, graphics, posters, etc.

The judges will evaluate the case study presentations based on the criteria listed below. These criteria are in no particular order and one item is not weighted more than another.

A certificate of participation and prizes will be awarded at the conference during lunch on Monday, October 22. If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Anderson Gerber.

CONFERENCE COLLEAGUES PROGRAM
Begins Sunday, October 21 through Tuesday, October 23

The Conference Colleague Program is an opportunity for new professionals and seasoned professionals in student affairs to connect and establish a relationship. During the 2007 MCPA Annual Conference you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and develop a relationship with your Conference Colleague. Colleagues will be assigned based on interest and/or functional areas. Seasoned professionals should plan to spend time with their mentee during the conference to share information, advice, and tips for success. There will also be time set a side for Conference Colleagues to mingle during the conference.

If you are a seasoned professional…

  • Have a positive impact on a new and developing professional
  • Share knowledge and wisdom about working in the student affairs field
  • Potentially develop a mentor/mentee relationship
  • Rejuvenate your passion for student affairs work
  • Stay updated and learn about the needs of new professionals
  • Help new professionals overcome some of the barriers to career success

If you are a new professional…

  • Develop a relationship with a seasoned professional
  • Obtain advice and guidance that will help you grow in the profession
  • Potentially develop a mentor/mentee relationship
  • Share the knowledge and perspective that you have about current students and the student affairs field
  • Develop a larger network of professionals that are willing to help you in the field

Indicate your interest in participating on the conference registration form. Prior to the Annual Conference you will receive an email indicating the name of your Conference Colleague, as well as other helpful documents to guide you in having a positive Conference Colleague experience. OPENING RECEPTION
Sunday – October 21, 2007
8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Enjoy some time to relax, meet colleagues from around the state and indulge in some delectable desserts. You will also have an opportunity to hear the music of Fish N’ Chips. This group has long entertained fans with their soulful, smooth harmonies. The male a cappella group samples from nearly every genre, from R&B to Oldies, 80's music to contemporary pop.

NO-HOST DINNER & DIALOGUE
Monday – October 22, 2007
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

MCPA No-Host Dinners will provide conference delegates the opportunity to socialize and network in an informal setting at local restaurants.  Interested delegates will sign up at the Registration/Information table.  Groups will gather and organize, with the help of our Social Committee chairpersons, to arrange transportation to and from the restaurants.

COLLEGE COLORS DAY MCPA 2007
Tuesday - October 23, 2007

Tuesday, October 23, 2007 is ‘College Colors Day’ at the MCPA Conference. Delegates are encouraged to celebrate the traditions and spirit of our respective campuses by wearing the apparel of their home institutions.
